2026 E-Bike Winner

2026 E-Bike Winner - Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council

ICIN was pleased to partner with UBCO Electric Utility Vehicles on an exciting giveaway of 1 x 2X2 Adventure e-Bike worth an impressive $8000. During the 2025 Forum, we heard from Batavia Traditional Owners Aboriginal Corporation, on how they use electric motorbikes on their carbon project and Brian Wilson, from UBCO Electric Utility Vehicles on the specifications of this e-bike to be given away, its environmental benefits, maximum speeds and much more.

This year for the competition, we asked contestants to submit a photo that represents the Forum theme of "Strong Roots, Strong Futures". This was about thinking about how your organisation's history is shaping its future, how young people are being mentored into future leaders, and about how you want Country to look for the next generations.

ICIN would like to extend a huge congratulations to Shernel Banjo from Kowanyama Aboriginal Shire Council — our 1st Place winner in this year’s Savanna Fire Forum Photo Competition, proudly delivered by Indigenous Carbon Industry Network in partnership with UBCO Ltd.

Shernel takes home the UBCO 2X2 Adventure E-Bike, valued at $8,000.

A proud Kokoberra woman, mother of five and one of the first female rangers in her group established in October 2025, Shernel shared what it means to care for land and sea under the guidance of Elders, alongside strong leaders and the next generation.

Her words say it best:

“Lead by example and they shall follow.”

This competition celebrates more than a photograph. It honours cultural authority, intergenerational strength, and Indigenous-led climate action happening on Country every day.
