About Moompa-Awu Aboriginal Corporation

Moompa-Awu Aboriginal Corporation (MAAC) is the representative body for the Wik Iiyney/ Mankanhu people who have cultural connection to Merepah Station, Cape York Peninsula.

The Merepah Fire Project was registered under the Emissions Reduction Fund (ERF) in 2014, with the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation as the original proponent.

Revenue from the Merepah Fire Project has been used to help fund MAAC business services and the refurbishment of old Merepah Station. The project has improved employment opportunities for the community through pathways as fire management operators and as rangers protecting cultural and natural assets.
