Sponsorship Opportunities
Indigenous-led savanna fire management across north Australia has proven to be a remarkable success in terms of reducing the spread and frequency of very hot, destructive fires – creating benefits for the climate, culture and biodiversity. As a valued sponsor, your organisation will be supporting continued growth and expansion in a sector that’s delivering results for people and planet.
As a small independent charitable organisation, ICIN relies entirely on the generosity of Savanna Fire Forum sponsors and the in-kind support of its members and partners to make this event possible each year. This support helps cover venue expenses and keep ticket costs low - especially for Indigenous fire managers. As event costs have significantly increased, this year more than ever we invite you to support this world-leading forum.

ICIN at the AMSA and Australian Sea Country Conferences
This month ICIN presented at two forums and discussed Right-way engagement in emerging 'blue' carbon markets.
The Australian Marine Sciences Association (AMSA) conference was a gathering of marine scientists and sea Country managers, held on Nipaluna Country (Hobart) in Lutruwita (Tasmania) over a week in September.
At the AMSA conference, Shaun Evans (pictured above) - a Yanyuwa and Mara man from the Borroloola region of the Northern Territory and cultural advisor to the Li-Anthawirriyarra Sea Rangers - highlighted the importance of right-way engagement with Indigenous communities regarding blue carbon project proposals. ICIN CEO Anna Boustead introduced a project that Charles Darwin University, NAILSMA and ICIN are collaborating on, to work with members of ICIN, land councils and other Indigenous representative bodies to co-design Indigenous engagement guidelines in relation to blue carbon projects.
ICIN Submission to inform the Rules of the Nature Repair Market
Throughout September, ICIN conducted two consultations for members focused on the Nature Repair Market (NRM) and its implications for the Network. The first session provided an overview of the market, facilitated a discussion on the tender submission process, and gathered member input on formulating a submission. The second meeting collected feedback on the ICIN submission prepared by our technical advisor.

ICIN Members launch Research Showing Effectiveness of Savanna Fire projects
ICIN Full Members - Balanggarra Aboriginal Corporation, Dambimangari Rangers, Wilinggin Aboriginal Corporation and Wunambal Gaambera Aboriginal Corporation in conjunction with Charles Darwin University researchers, have published research on the effectiveness of Savanna Fire projects in the CSIRO's International Journal of Wildland Fire.
The study looked at 22 years of data from 11.7 million hectares of land where Indigenous savanna fire carbon projects have been operating. Findings reveal fire frequency decreased across more than 42% of the area as a result of these projects and that there were fewer late dry season fires across more than 67% of the area.
Huge congratulations to our Members in the North Kimberley region for producing amazing outcomes for Country.
