Expressions of Interest – OPEN – Strategic Advisor
ICIN is requesting quotes from suitable, independent and qualified persons or organisations to undertake its Strategic Review 2026 and design of its new Strategic Plan 2027-2031.
What to include in your submission:
- A letter detailing your experience and addressing the key criteria
- Project portfolio
- Company structure and key personnel
- Referees
- Fees and Breakdown of costs
- Details of any potential conflicts of interest
- ABN
- A Statement of Commitment including Confidentiality
Proposed Approach
The Strategic Review will be undertaken over eight months (September 2026 – April 2027) and include:
Scoping and Research
- Meeting with the CEO and Board to inform and confirm the review schedule and proposed approach. (September 8)
- A desktop analysis of ICIN’s performance against the Goals and Objectives of its current Strategic Plan 2023-2026. (September 30) and Reviewed SWOT Analysis. (September 30)
Direct Engagement
- Development of a survey to inform this work. (early October)
- Participation in an Online Members Meeting to outline the process and methodology. (early October)
- Interviews with ICIN member organisations, partners, executive staff and Directors to inform further analysis. (during October)
- Leading a two-day Strategy Workshop in person with Directors and staff (mid-October, travel to be covered by ICIN).
- Board, CEO and membership input on performance and organisational objectives for the next 5 years (mid-October)
- Presenting new Strategic Plan inputs to the 2026 Annual General Meeting (November/December) for discussion with Members.
Outputs
- Recommended inputs into the 2027 -2031 Strategic Plan, including proposed mitigation of risks and optimising of positive impacts. (November)
- Work with the CEO and Board to ensure alignment with the Constitutional Review (undertaken separately by a Legal Advisor). (November 5)
- Recommendations towards building and maintaining financial sustainability of ICIN over the next 5-10 years. (November 30)
- Development of a new proposed Membership Fee structure which addresses the needs of members and ICIN Ltd. (November 30)
- Development of the 2027-2031 Strategic Plan together with members, executive staff and Directors. (February 2027)
- Together with the Impact Manager, develop inputs for a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework for ICIN including developing performance targets and metrics for each of ICIN’s goals to monitor progress against the new Strategic Plan. (April 2027)
- Recommendations regarding organisational structure to ensure best delivery of the new Strategic Plan. (April 2027)
Criteria for Applications
Factors for the assessment of proposals will include;
- Value for money
- Indigenous-owned
- Alignment with ICIN values
- Knowledge and understanding of the Indigenous carbon industry
- Demonstrated experience in strategic analysis and planning
- Reputation
- Independence
- Commitment to confidentiality
- Evidence of working collaboratively with organisations to set strategic objectives
- Ability to commit up to 9 months to this process.
The advisor will report the CEO and Board Directors of ICIN Ltd.
