Numbulwar rangers manage 3,300km2 of land and sea country.
The South East Arnhem Land (SEAL) Indigenous Protected Area (IPA) is managed by the Northern Land Council (NLC) which also manages the Numbulwar Numburindi Rangers and Yugul Mangi Rangers. Together, these two Indigenous ranger groups implement a coordinated program of strategic early dry season burning throughout the project area annually. They also undertake fire suppression activities in the late dry season.
The South East Arnhem Land Fire Abatement (SEALFA) carbon project operates within the SEAL IPA, encompassing an area of 18,199 km2 of Aboriginal freehold land within the Arnhem Land and Urapunga Aboriginal Land Trusts.
The SEALFA project was registered as an Eligible Offsets Project by ALFA (NT) Limited in 2015.
